FOOD BANK TO SERVE 100,000 PEOPLE FOR THANKSGIVING
Tulsa, OK, November 18, 2022 -
The Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma will be distributing 100,000 Thanksgiving meals to families in need throughout the community. Thanksgiving meal boxes and turkeys will be distributed through four direct service events, six drop-off deliveries to organizations in the community, and through partner agency agencies. Each family will receive a box with all the ingredients to prepare a Thanksgiving meal for up to 20 people, and a frozen turkey.
The Food Bank will be providing 2,650 Thanksgiving meal boxes and turkeys through direct services. These efforts are focused on underserved communities. The Food Bank has partnered with prominent churches in north and east Tulsa, as well as the Cherokee, Osage, and Muskogee Nations.
The drive-by distributions will begin Saturday at Metropolitan Baptist Church, followed by additional distributions at Osage Casino on Tuesday, and St Thomas Catholic Church and J.W. Sam on Wednesday. The public can register to receive a meal, by going to okfoodbank.org/turkey. Families must register prior to distribution to receive the meal box and turkey.
As grocery prices continue to rise, we have experienced a much higher demand of our services throughout our 24-county service area. We believe that everyone deserves a seat at the table and this Thanksgiving we want to ensure that they have one”.
